We wrote Blogger To WordPress Migration article few months back and got a tremendous response. It helped many of bloggers to move their Blogger.com blog to self hosted WordPress. To make the process even easier, we offered Free Migration on purchase of Hosting from our recommended hosts.
While number of bloggers enjoyed the free migration, some users faced the problem of Blogger.com To WordPress Redirection. We received multiple queries on our FREE Technical Support Forums from Hostgator customers that they are facing problems of re-direction.
Reported Error:
example.blogspot.com is migrated and re-directed to self hosted WordPress at example.com.
When users click on any post of older blogger blog:
for e.g.example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html
it should redirect to www.example.com/2011/07/test-page.html
but instead it’s been redirected to
www.example.com/?b2w=http://example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html
Solution:
We suggest you to communicate with the Hostgator customer support team and report the issue.
Please ask in hostgator support team for this ==>> { Hello “insert hostgator employee’s name” Can you please Whitelist the security rules 1434234 so that I can connect remotely for redirects.}
And give them old blogspot post URL which is not redirecting to WordPress post.
The above statement will help the hostgator support team to understand the issue correctly.
Update: You can always get free support from us but before that please cross check the following. This may save your time!
1. Check if the blogger to WordPress redirection plugin is activated.
2. Check if your permalinks structure on your WordPress is same as the custom structure recommended here.
You can check the custom field of posts in the post editor of WordPress.
blogger_blog = example.blogspot.com
blogger_permalink = /2011/07/test-post.html
3. Check this site to verify that if your old post (www.example.com/?b2w=http://example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html) is still giving 403 Forbidden error. If yes, you need to cross check the issue with Hostgator team again
I wish it will solve your re-direction problem.
Happy Blogging.

Hi Roshan,
Please cross check the issue with Hostgator support team again, I can see there is 403 (forbidden error) with your WP URL, for more details check here . And also your blogger blog is not redirecting towards WordPress blog. Please take care of the same.
If you have any further technical issue, feel free to ask in our free support forum.
Thanks.

my old blog post techieinspire.blogspot.com/2008/02/lock-folder-in-windows-xp-without-any.html
my new blog : techieinspire.com
I hope you followed all the steps of this article. I don’t know why you used /blogger directory.
Without looking inside your WordPress admin section and blogger template I can’t help you on it. If you wants to use our paid blogger to wordpress migration service, you can contact us.
Thanks.
There are actually TWO ModSecurity rules that must be whitelisted so you can connect remotely for redirects:
1434234
340162
Hope this helps someone else!
Thank you Karen for mentioning 2 ModSecurity rule.
I followed the directions very carefully. Then I contacted HOstgator and they whitelisted the rule but wouldn’t whitelist the 340162 b/c they said there was nothing conflicting with it.
the urls are unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com redirecting to unskinnyboppy.com
The home page is fine, but all of the posts are redirecting to the homepage with that query in the url. Am I missing something?
Hi Gwen,
If you tried all the possible things in WordPress and hostgator hosting account. Then we need to checkout in your WordPress dashboard. I hope our team can resolve this issue. Feel free to contact us to hire our team.
Thanks.
I just called hostgator about this, and they were very uncooperative and unwilling to change this security rule. The employee I got on the phone said there was another rule conflicting (began with 12…) but she refused to change this 1434234 rule. Any ideas? Should I try to keep calling, or is there anything I can do about it? At this point, I’m seriously considering to never recommend this host to my clients again.
Hostgator provide few more mode security rules, if rule begin with 12.. is not working then try another rules, Karen Lewis mentioned below in comments.
Hope that will help..
is there any way to find out what security rules might be blocking me from redirecting?
Hey there,
I use Dreamhost, and am facing the same issue.
I’ve cross checked the plugin html code, permalink format, and the site you suggested for 403 error (though, I’m not exactly sure what to look for, except I don’t see any 403).
The original link: theimaginaryzebra.blogspot.com/2013/02/tying-knotmargaret-and-lu.html
Goes to: http://www.theimaginaryzebra.com/?b2w=http://theimaginaryzebra.blogspot.com/2013/02/tying-knotmargaret-and-lu.html
which ended up as the front page of my new wordpress.
Please let me know what I can do to resolve this. Thanks!
Benson
@Benson,
Follow the steps mentioned here, hope it will help you.
You can add the security rule ID 340163.
I had to have that whitelisted today. My advice is to regularly check your redirects. Keep a list of old blogger urls. If you have the issue again, supply the IDs listed on this page to Hostgator support and get them whitelisted.
Hello Stevie,
Thanks for mentioning this.
I was having the same issue and I wanted to share what I did to fix the issue. I contacted Host Gator support via Live Chat the the specialist whitelisted 1234234, 340162,, 340163, and 900095. I honestly don’t even know what “whitelist” means but that’s the only thing that worked for me after having this issue for weeks!! Thanks to all the commenters that left suggestions!
My problem may be different , I called them and they whitelisted everything and redirects from post urls work fine , but when it comes to homepage the problem comes , when I type domain url , it is redirecting back to blogspot url ! any suggestions ?
Check the DNS records, you might be using the blogger’s IP address.
